Their abdomen has been modified to act as a makeshift plug for their burrows. If a predator or pest makes their way down this spiders burrower they are met with a dead end once they reach the spider. The abdomen has an intricate design that resembles a manhole cover or what some people would say looks like an Oreo cookie. These long lives primative spiders live a secretive life in their burrows but have developed some of the most unique hunting behaviors with a trapdoor burrow where they will grab unsuspecting prey from in a blink of an eye. This species was described in 2006 by a trio of Chinese arachnologist, Ming-Sheng Zhu, Jun-Xia Zhang & Feng Zhang.
