Sandinista lanceolatum 1/2”
Sandinista lanceolatum 1/2”
size 1”
This unique spider has had a long complicated taxonomic history. To make a long story short, it was first described as Eurypelma lanceolatum in 1891 by French naturalist Eugène Louis Simon. Fast forward to 2019 after multiple name changes, then Stuart J. Longhorn and Ray Gabriel established the new genus Sandinista where it currently resides as a monotypic genus. I have personally found this species on the northwestern coast of Costa Rica where I found clusters of burrows in close proximity of each other. Reaching about 3 inches as adults, these spiders are not commonly available these days and I have very limited stock on them.
