This rare arboreal spider has rainbow colored slings that go through several color transformations as they grow. Reaching about 4.5 inches as adults, the Iridopelma genus can be a bit more defensive compared to Avicularia. From the Brazilian states of Sergipe and Northern Bahia. Described by Brazilian zoologist Cândido Firmino de Mello-Leitão in 1926.
