This incredible hard to find Aphonopelma resembles the coloration of Brachypelma boehmei. However a bit smaller maxing out at about 4.5 inches. They mature males of this species are sexually dimporphic and turn black when they mature. Found in the deserts and scrublands of south western Mexico, these slow growing terrestrial spiders are super long lived. Described in 1996 by Ronny Struchen, Daniel Brändle & Günter Schmidt.
