Brachypelma hamorii
Brachypelma hamorii
size 1/2”
Pure bloodlines from Mexico import. This is a hobby classic spider that kind of started it all back in the 70’s. These days they are only available as captive bred in the states and CITIES permits are required to import them. These spiders are slow growing but can get up to 6 inches and become quite heavy bodied. They are native to the Mexican states of Jalisco, through coastal Colima State, to the northwestern coastal region of Michoacán. They were described in 1997 by Marc Tesmoingt, Frédéric Cleton and Jean Verdez. This spider was mistakenly sold on the hobby as Brachypelma smithi for decades.
