Described in 2010 by Rick West and Steve Nunn this incredible spider is also known and the Malaysian purple femur tarantula. Named after Stephen Hogg who helped collect material for the description of this spider. Found on Fraser’s Hill in west Malaysia, this burrowing spider is quite beautiful. Deep purple femurs with think hairy hind legs. These spiders build thier burrows in steep slopped ground in shady areas of the hillsides. Not common in the hobby these days.
