Classic hobby spider that is known for its attitude and beautiful color. Sometimes referred to as a “pet hole” due to their burrowing habits, while It’s probably better off if they do stay in their hole since they are so mean. These demonic spiders were first described in 1996 by Andrew Smith of the U.K. Native to Thailand and Myanmar, where they are probably constantly throwing threat displays every time the wind blows. They are just mean. You were warned.
This spider was known as Haplopelma lividum as it was originally described in 1996, until 2015 where it was moved the genus Cyriopagopus. However in 2026 the genus Melopoeus was revalidated where this spider currently resides.
