Euathlus truculentus
Euathlus truculentus
size 1.25”
This Chilean terrestrial spider has been sold under multiple different names over the years. In the last few years it has been determined to be Euathlus truculentus that was described in 1875 by German arachnologist Ludwig Carl Christian Koch. There is a green femur morph of this species as well. However the purple seems to be more common. These were quite common tarantulas when Chile use to export them. Nowadays they are only available as captive bred spiderling. Adults get about 5.5” inches and can be slow growers. However it’s worth the wait to have one of the beautiful spiders in your collection!
