The “stout leg baboon” spider was extremely common in the hobby 20 plus years ago . Adults use to sell for $15 each. However the lack of males and breeding back then led to them vanishing from the hobby for many years. These days captive bred slings are starting to trickle into the hobby with a very high demand for them. This spider was described in 1990 by Günter Schmidt und Volker von Wirth. Adult females reach about 4 inches in length, are heavy webbers and have awesome hairy hind legs. Give them a tall container or dirt to dig in, they’ll do the rest. Rare and very limited.
