These giants are a hobby staple and will always be one of my favorite. I’ll never forget the first time I saw an adult female. What they lack in color is made up with their sheer size being one of the largest genera of tarantulas in the world.  Described by Brazilian arachnologist Cândido Firmino de Mello-Leitão in 1971.  These terrestrial spiders can reach leg spans of over nine inches and are a sight too see.
