Giant Vinegaroons! These incredible harmless arachnids from the southwest USA and Mexico are one the largest species of vinegaroon’s in the world. These make great pets for beginners as they lack and type of venom. However they do possess a defensive acetic acid type of spray, that has a strong vinegar smell to it. This spray comes from the base of the “whip” and can be a deterrent to small animals as it can cause a mild irritation in the eyes and nose of predators. This species was originally thought to be a locality of Mastigoproctus giganteus but was later described to be its on species in 2018 Diego Barrales-Alcalá, Oscar F. Francke, and Lorenzo Prendisi.
