Pamphobeteus insignis (Colombia)
Pamphobeteus insignis (Colombia)
size 3/4””
These amazing Pamphobeteus are special as the females retain the purple color into adulthood. That is unusual as most Pamphobeteus females are brown as adults, with only the mature males being a vibrant purple color. There are two spiders in the hobby sold as “insignis”. The one from Ecuador that has the typical “Christmas tree” pattern as slings, and these Colombian spiders that lack the tree pattern all together. It is believed that the Colombian local is the real P. insignis that was described in 1903 by Reginald Innes Pocock. Typical fast growing species that reaches 6+ as adults.
