The budwing mantis is known for its for it short wings as adult a lack of ability to fly when the females mature. Reaching almost 3 inches as adults, these awesome mantises are found in east Africa. Commonly found in Kenya and Somalia, where they can put up a pretty cool display feature when they are annoyed. Like all mantises they should be kept in a tall container with things to hang froM when they molt. This species was described in 1869 by German entomologists Carl Eduard Adolph Gerstaecker.
