This rare Phormictopus is new to the U.S. as in the past what has been sold as P. cautus turned out to be Phormictopus sp purple from the Dominican Republic. This spider is the real a Phormictopus cautus from Cuba. This reddish-maroon colored Phormictopus should be kept like others in the genus. A large terrestrial species that  be was described in 1875.
