Phormingochilus pennellhewlettorum
Phormingochilus pennellhewlettorum
size 3/4”
This incredible Asian arboreal was described in 2015 by Andrew Smith and Michael Jacobi, and then named after Mark Pennell and Dean Hewlett who discovered them years earlier. This a smaller species in the genus only reaching 5”-6” as adults. Beautiful yellowish carapace with a dark triangle over the eyes that seems to fade to a full yellow carapace with age. These spiders that are native to Bario Kelabit in the Kelabit highlands of northeastern Sarawak have been breeding well in captivity and seem to be well established in captive populations.
