Poecilotheria striata

The Mysore ornamental tarantula is most similar to Poecilotheria regalis, however these spiders lack the ventral cream colored abdominal band that regalis are known for. Poecilotheria striata are some of the world’s most striking colored tarantulas with cryptic black and white patterns, and bright yellow ventral warning bands that the spider will flash when disturbed. These fast growing arboreal spiders are from southern India will reach about 7 inches as adults.  Described in 1895 by British zoologist Reginald Innes Pocock.
