One of the big 3, Theraphosa apophysis is a lanky giant spider. This species differs from the other 3 species of Theraphosa by having all 8 legs displaying the pink colors on their metatarsus and tarsus. These colors give them the common name Goliath pinkfoot. However these colors fade with age. Males of this species have some brilliant purple iridescent colors upon maturity. Can be a difficult species to find at times. Described in 1991 by Andreas Tinter. These giant Venezuelan spiders are extremely impressive.
