This is a new species to the U.S. , however they are often confused with many of the other “blue” Thrixopelma species from Peru. This spider is closely related and resemble Thrixopelma cyanoleum the most. However the biggest difference is the lack of long red hairs on the abdomen as adults.  Adults max out at about 4 inches. This is a terrestrial species from Peru that should not be confused with what is sold as Thrixopelma cyanoleum, Thrixopelma llongicolli, Homoeomma sp. blue or Theraphosinae sp. blue.
